Another day, another good run...

Finished a nice run today feeling very good. I made today's run much more difficult that it should have been. I was getting a little bored with my normal running route so I decided to head the opposite way to start off my run. I felt good from the beginning of the run. Normally I have to run for about 3 minutes before my legs loosen up and I get into a good running groove. But today from the get go, I was in my stride. My breathing was under control and I had a nice stride going. About a mile into the run is where things started to shift from good to bad. I enjoyed the new route, but I failed to realize that the loop heading back home was probably 70% uphill. The hills weren't very steep, but they were very long gradual inclines. That pretty much zapped a lot of my speed from my legs. So I adjusted and just backed the pace back down and completed the run without stopping. I drove the route after getting back home. The total distance was just over 2 miles, but the hills really put my legs to work. Tomorrow is a rest day and then Saturday is a good challenge day. 25 minutes non-stop. I accomplished 20 minutes non-stop last Saturday without too much trouble so going into Saturday's run, I feel very confident that I can do it.

Another run accomplished...

Well this post is a day late because I was having some difficulties with blogger last night. Every time I went to post, I would get a error message. Then on top of that, one of my posts got deleted. But all is well today. Yesterday's run was a mixed bag of emotions. I was really anxious to do yesterday's run because of the fact that I had conquered the 20 minute non-stop run on Saturday and yesterday's run was just intervals. But I must have still been fatigued by Saturday's run because about halfway into my 2nd interval, my legs felt really heavy and I had to really focus to get through the remainder of the workout. I never quit and finished the whole workout as planned. I must say that I think running has become a permanent part of my life now. I can't imagine not running at least 3 times a week. I hate rest days and look forward to run days. It's about time that I got addicted to something health as opposed to Burger King!!!
